Community Learning

The Board of Rabbis offers a variety of opportunities for individuals, lay leaders, and Jewish communities to engage in Talmud Torah, a lifelong engagement in Jewish learning:
Two weekly Torah commentaries: Torat Malackim , written by Rabbi Mark S. Diamond, Executive Vice President of The Board of Rabbis, and the Parashat HaShavua Series, written each week by a member of the Board of Rabbis.
One People One Book: A Citywide Year of Transdenominational Learning is our primary community program. More than 500 people from over 25 area congregations, plus unaffiliated readers, embark on a year-long study of a significant Jewish book, and connect it to the Torah, through community-wide programs and smaller discussion groups. One People One Book is open to those in the Jewish community who are not affiliated with a specific synagogue.
The Synagogue Leadership Institute (SLI) provides emerging synagogue leaders with a solid core of Jewish textual learning, leadership theory and hands-on leadership skills. SLI strengthens participants' understanding of and commitment to their respective congregations, synagogue movements and the Jewish community at large with k'lal Yisra'el sensitivity and perspective.
In addition to our weekly Torah Portion Commentaries, the Board of Rabbis offers educational materials about the Jewish Holidays, as well as other Jewish Resources.
