Mayrav Saar
Program Director
Mayrav Saar is the program director for the Board of Rabbis. Before joining the board, Saar enjoyed a distinguished career as a journalist, first at The Los Angeles Times and then as an award-winning medical writer for the Orange County Register. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, the Jerusalem Post, Los Angeles Confidential Magazine and many other publications. She currently writes a monthly humor column for Orange County Jewish Life that focuses on her "crazy family and deep-rooted insecurities."
Saar earned her journalism degree at Northwestern University in Chicago and worked around the world as a reporter before returning to her native Los Angeles.
Having grown up in the local conservative movement (Temple Aliyah), Saar is now a member of Sinai Temple, where she sits on the board of Dor Chadash, a group for families with young children.
She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Glenn Gaslin, a novelist and senior editor at E! Entertainment. The couple has a dog named Sketch and ridiculously sweet son named Zev.
